The March 2011 edition of Welfare Pulse, a journal published three times a year by the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF), included an article about the fishcount report Worse things happen at sea: the welfare of wild caught fish.

An article by Peter Singer, entitled If fish could scream, discusses animal suffering in commercial fishing and was published on the Project Syndicate website on 13 Sep 2010. Peter Singer is the Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University, and laureate professor at the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (CAPPE), University of Melbourne.
